MARGINALISED CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE

Support for ukrainian children and young people

Ukrainian children and young people are severely affected by the war. That is the reason for a donation of DKK 500,000 from the Vissing Foundation to Børns Vilkår and their initiative directed towards Ukrainian children and young people in Denmark.

Marianne Rasmussen from Børns Vilkår says about the donation, ”We’re happy that the Vissing Foundation chose to support Ukrainian children and young people in Denmark. They experience major and serious consequences of the war. Some have been separated from their father, friends or other family. They are having a very hard time.”

The money primarily goes to a children’s helpline in Ukrainian and a chat feature where children and young people can receive counselling. Among other things, it requires for the voluntary, Ukrainian-speaking counsellors to be equipped for that dialogue. Børns Vilkår also publishes material with advice for parents about having difficult conversations with their children.

”With support from the Vissing Foundation, we’re able to put together an initiative where we can tell that we make a positive difference in the children’s lives,” says Marianne Rasmussen.”
