Better treatment and care for patients suffering from diabetes

The Vissing Foundation grant for The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen covers a project which is meant to make it easier for socially marginalised patients suffering from type 2-diabetes to receive help and available treatment options from the public health care system. The research project will make it easier and more efficient for general practitioners, nurses and other health care personnel to handle patients suffering from type 2-diabetes.

This includes identification of suitable and efficient approaches to a co-operation between the numerous specialists and organisations within both the primary and the secondary health care sector in order to rectify some of the documented social inequalities that typically arise when this particular group of patients come into contact with the public health care system.

The project includes co-operation between a broad selection of research units, hospitals, doctors and patients as the first step in an efficient effort to improve the quality of life for socially marginalised patients suffering from type 2-diabetes.
