support for start-ups

Energy and
climate tech

The Foundation focuses on start-up companies who are moving on from an idea or concept to testing and implementing a specific solution. The support is primarily intended for activities which develop, test and commercialise new technologies.

  • All stages of the process, from development to supply, storage and reduction (e.g. of CO₂) of both products and systems.

  • Technologically smart solutions which indirectly can help to solve major challenges faced by society in relation to energy or the climate. This is not necessarily limited to projects specifically concerned with energy or climate tech.
  • Integrated solutions for managing energy, the climate, the environment or biodiversity.

  • Digital solutions for energy optimisation in production, transport or construction.

  • New forms of energy production, such as biofuels, PtX or CO₂ capture.

  • Energy storage in batteries and other systems.

  • Improved efficiency from energy consumption commercially or in private homes.

The Vissing Foundation does not grant support to:

  • Wages for founders or owners.
(However, a grant may be made for wages of a third party, e.g. a developer or technical specialist, or for laboratory work.)

  • Travel expenses.
(However, travel expenses in connection with commercialisation may be covered.)

  • Courses, congresses or study trips.

  • Publications.

  • Administrative costs.

Terms and Conditions for Support for Start-ups in Energy and Climate Tech

This support targets entrepreneur companies associated with a Danish university. The entrepreneur businesses may be owned by students, employees or researchers in the transition from an idea or concept to testing and implementing a specific solution.

Working with universities
The Vissing Foundation collaborates with Danish universities, who carry out a preliminary expert assessment of the projects, so all applications must therefore include a recommendation from a Danish university.
