Green heat for industry

Many small and medium industrial enterprises have difficulty in converting to green energy. They are still dependent on fossil fuels to produce the heat that their production requires, because there is a lack of electrical solutions suited to their size and requirements.

“Today, small and medium industrial enterprises are struggling to go green. Most are dependent on fossil fuels to produce the heat needed for their production, and there are quite simply no adequate electrical alternatives suited to their size and requirements,” explains Sofus Haaning, CEO and co-founder of Enectrify ApS.

Enectrify is a start-up from DTU SkyLab in Copenhagen, and develops modular heat-pump systems which can deliver the high temperatures needed by industry – even at low effect ranges, where at present there are no solutions. The modular units can be linked together and scaled up, so they can meet industrial requirements on both large and small scales.

“With support from the Vissing Foundation we are building a functional prototype of our system, which will document the technology and form a basis for a product that can be tested in an industrial environment,” says Sofus Haaning.

If the project is successful, the solution could enable far more small and medium enterprises to replace fossil fuels with electrified heat solutions, and thus contribute to the green transition.
