Green electricity at any time

ShipTown is developing H-Battery, which is technology to ensure stable green electricity at all times. When power is green and cheap, H-battery produces and stores hydrogen, which can later be converted back into electricity. The technology is based on a special type of metal plates or electrodes which determine how efficiently and economically the system functions. A single H-battery unit contains thousands of electrodes, and even small improvements in production can make a big difference to price, performance and the possibilities of producing the technology in Denmark.

“The project supported by the Vissing Foundation is to develop and test an optimal method of producing the electrodes. The project is organised as an accelerated development process in which different production methods, processes and choices of materials are systematically tested and compared. The electrodes will be analysed and tested in collaboration with researchers from Aalborg University and the Technical University of Denmark. They will for instance investigate efficiency, durability and material properties,” explains Marie Vedel Lauridsen, co-founder and CEO of ShipTown.

The results will form the basis for the selection of the most stable and cost-effective method before production is scaled up to full size.

The aim is for ShipTown to establish a reliable and competitive production of electrodes. This will make green hydrogen cheaper, strengthen Danish competencies in energy technology, and contribute directly a more rapid green transition.
