MARGINALISED CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE

The city park in Skive

The purpose of Aakjærparken is to create an open, free and safe space in the centre of Skive where children and young people can meet, be active and become part of positive communities.

The park is designed especially to benefit children and young people who face difficulties in their everyday lives. This may include young people who feel lonely, have low self-esteem, do not take part in leisure activities, struggle at school, or come from families with limited financial and social resources.

“We are grateful for Vissing Fonden’s support for Aakjærparken. Their contribution enables us to create an open and safe gathering place where children and young people facing difficult life circumstances have better opportunities to become part of a community, stay active and experience a sense of belonging,” says Anders Møller, Project Coordinator for Aakjærparken.

At Aakjærparken, young people will be able to play, exercise, enjoy ball games, spend time with friends, relax and meet others in a natural and welcoming environment. The park will include playgrounds, a multi-purpose sports court, a basketball court, an area for scooters and roller skating, a balance trail, an outdoor fitness area, green spaces for relaxation and a campfire area.

The aim is to give children and young people positive experiences, encourage physical activity and help them build new relationships. These experiences can strengthen their self-confidence and equip them with the skills and resilience to manage their own lives.

The project is firmly rooted in the local community and is being developed in collaboration with schools, local associations, residents and the SkiveMidt Citizens’ Association.
