SIND Young People in Viborg run a community for young people aged between 16 and 35 who face mental health challenges or loneliness. The grant from the Vissing Foundation will help the community to continue its activities in 2026 and retain both volunteers and participants.
“We work to ensure that no young person is left alone with mental challenges. Any young person aged between 16 and 35 who needs a safe and accommodating community is welcome,” says Anna Kjær Knudsen, project consultant at SIND Young People.
The youth community is run by young volunteers, and provides a secure breathing space with communal meals, games, creative activities and social arrangements. Here the young people are given a chance to develop friendships, strengthen their social skills, and feel that they are not alone with their challenges.
The project is intended to combat loneliness and improve well-being among mentally vulnerable young people by creating a community that is attentive, open, and mutually supportive.
