Slaraffenlejren is one of Red Cross Youth’s 24 holiday camps for vulnerable children and young people. Slaraffenlejren takes place during the summer holidays, and the goal is to give the children at the camp a positive boost and a break from a life that is sometimes difficult.
“We want to give them the opportunity to be children with no other responsibility but to simply have fun,” says Shahzeb Asif, camp leader at Slaraffenlejren.
Throughout the week, a variety of activities takes place. Anything from building ziplines, canoeing, bead art, hair salons and foam football. There is also plenty of time for relaxation and hanging out; this is supposed to be the children’s holiday.
“The support from the Vissing Foundation will be used for activities for the children such as a trip to the swimming pool, T-shirts that they can take home as a lasting memory, or simply to buy toys and materials,” says Shahzeb Asif.
